Granny Square Stitch C2C Pattern

Granny Square Stitch
C2C Pattern

Hello everyone.  I am doing this blog post with this pattern to share with everyone on a couple of blankets that I made for my aunts.  Pictured here:

Everyone asked for the pattern so here it is :D

Just remember that this is for my pattern and depending on the size of the blanket that you want to make, it may be different on when and where you decrease or change colors.  As well as how much yarn you  need.

What you  need:
2 Skeins of White
2 Skeins of Periwinkle Blue
2 Skeins of Perfect Pink
1 Size H or 5.00mm Hook
Scissors
Fabric needle to weave in ends

Note:

For those of you that are doing this pattern that use UK terms, everywhere you see DC or Double Crochet, you use the Treble Crochet.

Also, I do not count the chain 3 anywhere in this pattern as a stitch.

For the basics on how to do the increase and decrease through video, see my Crochet With Me episode here:

For those that are better with written instructions here are the two places you put a 3 dc cluster when you are increasing each time you do.  When it comes to changing from color to color, you can do it however you want.  Either knot it so it goes from one right into the other, or fasten off and add the new color, on either increase or decrease side.

When you are staring to decrease on one side, where you would normally put a 3 dc cluster, you would only put one dc like this:

Going to the next row up when you are doing one decrease and one increase, you chain three after doing the one dc, as seen above, and skip over to the first space (between 2 3 dc clusters of previous row) and do your first 3 dc cluster like here:

And remember when increasing on one side, when you get to the other end you do a 3 dc cluster like here:

When you are ready to close up, you just do the same thing on both ends as you go for the decrease.  Like here:

I hope that helps you, if not you can always refer to the video.  And just like your typical C2C every time you turn, you are starting a new row.  Just count up the side where your 3 dc clusters are and it will give you the number of rows that you have:

It is the same for both sides, just count each ch 3 or 1 dc on the side you are decreasing if you count that side.

Now for the pattern:

Rows 1: In white, make a magic ring, (or if you don't know how, make a slip knot, chain 4 and sl st in first ch to form a ring) Chain 3, then 4 dc into ring.  If doing a Magic Ring, close it, ch 3 and then turn.

Row 2: Still in white, do a 3 dc cluster between the last dc and the one just before it of the previous row.  Then 3 dc cluster between the ch 3 and first dc of the previous row.  Chain 3 and then turn.

Row 3: Still in white, do a 3 dc cluster between the last dc and the one just before it of the previous row.  A 3 dc cluster in the space between the 2 clusters from the previous row.  A 3 dc cluster between the ch 3 and first dc of the previous row.  Change to Periwinkle Blue, ch 3 and turn.

NOTE: Your first three rows done it should look like this:

Rows 4-6: Repeat the same steps of rows 1-3 in the Periwinkle Blue, starting each row with the 3 dc cluster between the last dc and the one just before it of the previous row, and ending each row with a 3 dc cluster between the ch 3 and first dc of the previous row.  And a 3 dc cluster in each space between each cluster of the previous row, just like you would a granny square.

Rows 7-8: Change color to white, and repeat same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 9-11: Change color to Perfect Pink, and repeat same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 12-13: Change color to white, and repeat same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 14-16: Change color to periwinkle blue, and repeat same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 17-18: Change color to white, and repeat the same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 19-21: Change color to perfect pink, and repeat same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 22-24: Change color to white, and repeat same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 25-26: Change color to periwinkle blue and repeat the same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 27-29: Change to color white and repeat the same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 30-31: Change to color perfect pink and repeat the same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 32-34: Change to color white and repeat the same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 40-41: Change to color perfect pink and repeat the same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Row 42: Chane to color white, and build row just like the previous row.

Row 43: Still in color white, start row like previous row, but end row with a 1 dc not a 3 dc cluster to begin decreasing on one side.  Each time you come to this side, you will put a 1 dc inside the chain 3 that you do when you start the next row, It will look like this as you get a few in:

Rows 44-46: Change to color periwinkle blue and keep with increase on one side and decrease on the other side as in Row 43

Rows 47-48: Change to color white and repeat the same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 49-50: Change to color perfect pink and repeat the same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Row 51: Still in color perfect pink, begin decreasing on both sides, after a row or two it should look like this:

Rows 52-53: Change to color white and repeat with decreasing on both sides as in Row 51

Rows 54-56: Change to color periwinkle blue and repeat the same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 57-58: Change to color white and repeat the same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 59-61: Change to color perfect pink and repeat the same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 62-64: Change to color white and repeat the same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 77-79: Change to color white and repeat the same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 80-81: Change to color perfect pink and repeat the same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 82-83: Change to color white and repeat the same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 84-86: Change to color periwinkle blue and repeat the same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 87-88: Change to color white and repeat the same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Rows 89-91: Change to color perfect pink and repeat the same stitch pattern as previous rows.

Fasten off and you are done.

For the border, starting in white, I did 3 hdc in each space around, when I came to where I wanted to make a corner I would ch 2 and then go on either in the same place (Doing six hdc in that one) or to the next space with 3 hdc.  I then started in any corner that I made with the perfect pink, doing 3 hdc ch 2 3 hdc in the corner space, and 1 hdc in each stitch otherwise, doing the corners all the same way.  Then repeated that again with the periwinkle blue exactly like the pink.

Wove in the ends and they were washed, dried and delivered.

Please if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me.  I don't typically write out patterns so I do hope that this was easy to follow.  :D  Enjoy.

Those are what I am going to be working on right now.  Along with some fanfictions and doing a re-edit on some ebooks that I am going to publish that are all my own :D

Hope there is something here for everyone :D

Learning Japanese

Let met tell you one thing.  Learning Japanese, and on your own is HARD AS CRAP believe you me.  But I am getting there very slowly.  I am starting to remember all the different hiragana characters.  Next is writing them.  Once I get them down, then at least, well hopefully I will be able to tackle the job of sentence structure.  Being from the united states, the sentence structure of Japan is really out of wack and is going to take me some time to figure out.  But I will do it.  :D

On other news, I will be doing some videos on how I am doing with writing in Japanese Hiragana.  As well as getting some more fanfiction videos.  Some more Evil Salvation coming to youtube :D

As well as getting some more of my Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate gameplay up, later I am going to work on doing some Naruto ones.  Probably starting with Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution gameplay.  I can get some long videos or lots of short ones out of that.  May do some Generations too.  I need to buy the Ultimate Ninja Storm 1-3 again, I can't seem to find them lol.
